In 2013, we embarked on an ambitious project to assess coastal cutthroat trout throughout their geographic distribution. Partners from state, federal, tribal, industry and non-governmental agencies are assisting with data gathering and meeting planning from northern California to Alaska.
Data on coastal cutthroat trout distribution, modeled historical habitat, population and habitat health, and threats and conservation actions will be gathered and analyzed to improve management and conservation opportunities. For this work we developed a protocol that can be used with a geo-database. Watch for updates on this project through 2016.
